Swine Flu is in the news worldwide and search trends are spiking in North America:

We’re seeing lots of domains being registered. Here’s a list of the ones registered over the weekend.

No malware sites… yet. But plenty of them are opportunistic:

Click on the “Add to Cart” button at noswineflu.com and you’ll be asked to buy a PDF file called “Swine Flu Survival Guide” for $19.95.

You’d be better off spending your money on this.
Updated to add: Joe, the owner of noswineflu.com sent us a copy of his PDF.
It’s 19 pages opinion and advice, and the copy that we received is NOT malware.
Remember, this post notes the creation of opportunistic sites, not malicious ones.
And we still do not recommend the purchase…

A while back it was all over the blogs and Twitter that Amazon had somehow demoted Gay and Lesbian themed books to keep them from showing up in searches.
There was outrage from all the civil rights folks especially in the LBGT camp (rightfully so if it…

I’ve done this sort of thing before, but luckily somebody else is comparing the Xfce environments of Debian Lenny and Xubuntu/Ubuntu. Results are not surprising and are in line with what I found over a year ago when I did a major comparison of everything from Xubuntu and Debian to Slackware and gOS, as well as Wolvix and standard Ubuntu. Back then, Slackware and Debian with Xfce were indeed very, very fast systems. And while I didn’t test them at the time, I expect ZenWalk and Vector with Xfce to perform as well or better.
